TRANSCRIPT

We believe that successful climate projects are those that are fully embraced and led by the countries and communities they are designed to serve. But how do we ensure this happens?

Firstly, we listen. We take the time to understand the unique needs, priorities, and aspirations of the country and its people. We engage in meaningful consultations with government stakeholders, local communities, and civil society organisations. We work with and hire local experts and organisations to bring in local and traditional knowledge, and work in local languages. Their insights shape the project’s design and implementation.

Secondly, we empower. We support local partners to take the lead in project design and implementation. We provide them with the resources, training, and mentorship they need to succeed. This not only builds local capacity but also ensures that the project is aligned with local knowledge and expertise.

Thirdly, we collaborate. We work closely with local partners throughout the project lifecycle. We foster a spirit of partnership, where everyone’s contributions are valued and respected. This collaborative approach ensures that the project is truly country-driven and locally led.

By following these principles, we can help to ensure that climate projects deliver sustainable and equitable benefits for all.
