A Q&A with Hollie Moffett

In a nutshell, tell us about yourself.

I grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland and have lived there my whole life. It’s home to the Giant’s Causeway, the Mourne Mountains, Game of Thrones and some of the best little Irish pubs you’ll find. I was fortunate enough to gain two degrees from Queen’s University Belfast and to be chosen as a UN Women UK delegate for the CSW67 at the start of this year.

I have always had an interest in human rights, social justice, and the environment. However, choosing to study MA International Relations really helped me solidify my path in life, in this case it was climate research, particularly surrounding adaptation and mitigation. I have always wanted to do good in some way and help make an impact, no matter how small or big. As long as it helped bring change to those who need it that would be enough.

What are your loves?

A few of my loves would have to be sunsets, dark chocolate, swimming in the sea, sunflowers, concerts, sports and being out in nature, my friends and family.

Who are what do you most admire?

I admire people who can make you feel comfortable being yourself and doesn’t take themselves too seriously, whilst also being driven and passionate about what they enjoy.

Name three things on your bucket list.

I would love to one day see the Northern Lights, become fluent in French and learn piano.

What would you desire most if stranded on a desert island?

A guide on how to survive on a desert island ! Or lip balm…both are equally important.

Which book has changed your life?

Whilst I am still searching for THE book, I would say ‘Tess of the d’Urbervilles’ by Thomas Hardy.
