A Q&A with Nathalie Suarez

In a nutshell tell us about yourself

Born and raised in Ecuador in a beautiful colonial city called Quito, located in the middle of the mountains, where you can appreciate the volcanoes thar surround the city every bright sunny day. I grew up around nice hikes with friends, visits to Quito centre for ice cream and great outdoors trips to the lakes. My interest to see the world and travel lead me to study abroad, first in Latin America and then in Europe. In both continents I got to know so many beautiful places and amazing friends who became family and showed me different perspectives of the world. Through these experiences I developed a commitment to protect the nature that surround us.

During my Master’s, I had the chance to study different natural areas as well as to collaborate with iNGOs which led me to see the importance of international cooperation in facing environmental problems in developing countries like my hometown. I also had the opportunity to work with rural communities in coastal areas in raising awareness about biodiversity conservation at every scale. Nowadays, I believe the path is getting to know how to allocate these resources to keep supporting the change we all need.
