With five years work experience in banking and financial services law, and an LLB from the University of Leeds, Patricia transitioned into the development sector in 2022, undertaking an MSc in International Development at the University of London, SOAS, as well as contributing to urban development research in Kampala. Over the years, Patricia has refined her research and writing skills through academic publishing, proposal development, participation in writing fellowships and contributions to legal and development-focused publications. She has also contributed to the design of projects addressing climate change, gender and municipal finance. With expertise in simplifying complex technical information, Patricia is eager to contribute to E. Co.’s mission by effectively communicating the impact of its initiatives to the world.

A Q&A with Patricia Katto

In a nutshell, tell us about yourself:

I spent my formative years in Kampala, Uganda, within a big, vibrant family. After attending boarding school in Kenya and the UK, I took a gap year which allowed me to spend some time in my home country and become more attuned to the dynamics of the capital city. I then resumed my studies at the University of Leeds where I obtained an LLB in Law. After graduation, I worked at a financial institution in Uganda, providing legal support to its corporate and investment banking department. However, in 2022, I embarked on my journey within the field of development as I sought to use my skills, knowledge and experiences to address some of the global challenges the world faces today.
